What makes ChemAlert different?
ChemAlert was founded to fill a gap identified around chemical knowledge – less than 4% of the world’s chemicals, and their impacts, are tested and understood.
When considering or justifying what chemicals to use on a worksite or in operations, the standard tool is to consider the return on investment (ROI).
For example, if you were to use Sodium Hypochlorite on a worksite, the ROI would be the cost (investment) of Sodium Hypochlorite compared the to benefit or return.
This is where ChemAlert is different. As well as the cost and benefits, using independently researched data coupled with our rules engine, ChemAlert also considers the long-term impacts the chemical on health, the environment and safe working practices.
This gives you the real value of investment (VOI).

The ChemAlert difference

Independent research, no commercial bias
ChemAlert was founded to fill a gap identified around chemical knowledge – less than 4% of the world’s chemicals, and their impacts, are tested and understood.
ChemAlert uses scientific rigour to independently uncover and publish, without bias, what chemicals are used on worksites and by organisations across the globe.
This independence has remained a key feature of ChemAlert approach. Rather than accepting the information provided by manufacturers, which might be out of date or missing critical information, the ChemAlert team does its own product research into the product, to give clients access to advice that is independent of commercial considerations.
Independent reports
Many competitors will only publish the SDS provided by the manufacturer, which can often include gaps.
Having done the independent and rigorous research, ChemAlert also publishes a ChemAlert report for each chemical along with the SDS, providing pertinent information that might be missing on the SDS.
For example, ensuring the classification is correct so its risk level is properly established, which impacts the use and storage.
This is also where the VOI comes in to play. The ChemAlert report provides a unique score for each chemical according to six different parameters, so clients get a full understanding of the long-term health and environmental impacts as well.
Quality of process, duty of care
As well as bringing a lack of bias, the ChemAlert team also employ a rigorous and scientific process of interrogation that is applied to every chemical in our library.
Every SDS is reviewed for information gaps, which RMT’s researchers look to fill. This includes aspects such as the ingredients, the impact of those ingredients according to the latest research and data, and the safety and management processes needed.
We also don’t wait on manufacturers to update SDS’s. All chemicals listed in the ChemAlert database are routinely reviewed to update the information and ensure the most current advice is available.
