A Global Innovation in Hand Protection: Eco-Friendly "Liquid Gloves" Redefine Safety and Sustainability

In a major breakthrough for both personal and industrial safety, a new microfilm technology from Australia is set to transform hand protection worldwide.

Developed by scientist Velimir Pajic, the innovative "liquid glove" solution, called RevoGlov, offers durable skin protection without contributing to environmental waste—a pressing issue as disposable glove use continues to rise globally across food service, healthcare, and manufacturing sectors.

The spike in glove usage, especially since the COVID-19 pandemic, has amplified environmental concerns. Traditional disposable gloves, such as nitrile and synthetic latex, take years to break down in landfills, releasing harmful methane and other pollutants in the process. Recognizing this problem, Pajic, a longtime advocate of plant-based science, sought an alternative that would provide the same protection without the environmental impact.

During the pandemic, when the World Health Organization called for solutions to prevent disease spread, Pajic’s inspiration struck: “I envisioned a protective film that could coat hands, reducing bacterial spread and shielding against contaminants, without producing waste.” RevoGlov was born from this vision—a gel-based liquid glove that mimics the effectiveness of disposable gloves while offering a sustainable edge.

Applied similarly to hand sanitizer, RevoGlov dries into a barely-there, protective layer within 30 seconds, forming an invisible microfilm barrier on the skin. This innovative technology is both effective and eco-conscious. RevoGlov’s data shows that each application releases 41 times less carbon dioxide than manufacturing a single disposable latex glove.

For Pajic, creating an environmentally responsible product derived from plant-based science was critical. “The world needs sustainable solutions to tackle environmental challenges,” he explains. “Plant-based science holds enormous potential for creating these solutions. By reducing disposable glove waste, our liquid glove is a small but impactful step toward that goal.”

RevoGlov’s development marks an important shift toward sustainable protective wear for both industrial and everyday use. As this technology gains global recognition, it offers hope for minimizing landfill waste and reducing the carbon footprint associated with personal protective equipment. Pajic’s invention underscores the potential of plant-based science to address complex environmental issues and redefine what it means to protect ourselves and our planet.
